Dear First Lady Michelle Obama,
It is with great interest that we write to you now. Our names are Rachel Layton and Nolan McGuire and we are from High Tech High in Point Loma, San Diego. As a project in math we have decided to go deeper into the Ebola epidemic, aiming to inform people who can help affect change in the future. While studying Nigeria, we were delighted to find that they are now free of Ebola.
However, if there was still Ebola in Nigeria, by January 1st of next year there would have been 24 deaths throughout the country of Nigeria. As you can see below, our data is correct.
Our correlation coefficient is 0.9994, which means that there is a very strong relationship between the number of days and the number of deaths. Our coefficient of determination is 0.999, or 99%, which means that 99% of the data can be described by the trend line.
It is to our knowledge, that the Obama Administration made it a priority to eliminate the Ebola occurrences in the United States. We would like to give a big thanks to the entire Administration for all of their hard work.
We are so happy that Nigeria is now Ebola free, and think that the other countries affected by this epidemic are doing a great job helping to prevent Ebola from spreading more. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Rachel Layton and Nolan McGuire

Math Students
Math during second semester.
For the majority of the second semester in math we worked on coding with linkbots.
Linkbots:
Linkbots interactively teach students marketable 21st century programming skills.
The Linkbot, an engaging and tangible device that students program, provides immediate feedback for self-reflection and correction. Linkbot Labs, CCSS and NGSS aligned curriculum, is an individualized classroom experience where students click through programming content at their own pace. Combining Linkbots with Linkbot Labs creates a student centered classroom where young programmers are inspired to collaborate and persevere through material that prepares them for both college and careers.
- Abstract programming becomes concrete and attainable
- Students become proficient in industry standard languages
- No prior programming experience is necessary for teachers and students
